Early-mid C19 pair of 3 storeys and basement. Brick with stone string at 1st
floor level. No 40 has stucco dividing panel and 2 courses of grey brick above
basement. Moulded stucco cornice and blocking course with in centre a raised
shallow pediment. Slate roof. 3 bays each glazing bar sashes. Arched doorway
in deep stucco rusticated recess with steps up to it, patterned fanlight over:
1st floor windows have balconies with contemporary cast iron 'honeysuckle'
pattern rails. 2 halves separated by spearhead rails.
