House, formerly a rectory. Early to mid C18 extended late C18 to rear and
1857 to front (Bedfordshire Record Office: X392/11/1-8 plans). Red brick to
C18 parts, C19 part in red and yellow chequered brick. Hipped clay tiled
roofs. Original structure, parallel to road, is one room deep and of 2
storeys and attics. Later additions are 2 storeyed. Complete building forms
rough L-plan. Original structure has projecting corner piers with cyma recta
capitals. Brick bands at first floor and cornice level. Plain stone coped
parapet. Windows are flush sashes, but without glazing bars. All have gauged
brick flat arches, the first floor ones of side elevations with scalloped
edges. Box dormers to attic have casements with glazing bars. Later
additions encase half front elevation and most of rear. Mostly sash windows.
Interior: original block has contemporary panelling to LH ground floor room
and central staircase with barleytwist balusters.
