TL 0633 CHURCH ROAD

19/92 Rectory Farmhouse

GV II

House. C16, C17 and C18, with C20 reworkings and additions. Timber framed
structure, in parts very substantial, mostly encased in colourwashed roughcast
render, but some colourwashed brick casing to ground floor. Applied timber
framing to main block. Roofs partly clay tiles, partly C20 tiles. Complex
plan, the 2 storey and attics rectangular block probably earliest part, with
later 2 storeyed gables projecting from S elevation and C20 addition to rear
elevation. Mostly C20 2-light casement windows. C20 doors, that to N
elevation under C20 gabled porch. Interior: 2 storey and attics block
contains most substantial timber framing, with large jowled main posts and
mouldings to some beams. Attic of SE gable has plaster ceiling with curious
graffiti burnt on with candle flame and apparently C18.
