Post Office and cottage in centre and attached pairs of cottages to either side.
Dated "AD 1860". Coursed squared rubble with freestone dressings and quoins;
Cotswold stone slate roof with overhanging eaves and decorative cut bargeboards,
finials to the gables. Gothic style. Single storey and attics in gables.
1:2:1:1:1:2:1 bays: central and double bays are advanced with gables. 3-light
cross windows on ground floor; 2-light casement windows on first floor, with
diamond glazing pattern, chamfered surrounds and relieving arches. The bays
flanking the centre have 2-light oriel windows on corbels and under dormers.
Central segmental headed doorcase with antae and moulded surround. Single
storey gabled porches to end bays, segmental headed doorcases and decorative
bargeboards. Single storey double porch to bays flanking the centre, parapet
with decorative central feature (strap work surrounding shields), inner doors
blocked. Plank doors. Full ducal armorial bearings in centre gable; coronet/
"B" (Beaufort) and "AD 1860" on 4 outer gables. Square, capped ashlar gate piers
in centre to road with wrought iron overthrow; the gate stands isolated 5 yards
in front of the Post Office.
