Lodge, to Ashwicke Hall. Circa 1857-60 by J.K. Colling for J.C. Orred of
Ashwicke Hall. Coursed squared rubble with freestone dressings; roof concealed
behind embattled parapet with central stepped feature. In a Gothic style.
L-plan with projecting west wing. 3 bays : 2- and 3-light cross windows in
chamfered mullions and surrounds. Solid porch in re-entrant angle, embattled
parapet; chamfered doorcase with 4-centred head. 10 feet high coursed squared
rubble wall encloses a small rear yard. Gates, gate piers and railings: square
ashlar outer piers with crested caps and a band of fleurons as a cornice;
wrought iron gates and railings to the left on a low wall; central pedestrian
gateway with chamfered 4-centred arch, band of fleurons and crested cap.
