ST 66 SW COMPTON DANDO

6/41 The Rectory

G.V. II

Rectory. 1849-51 by S.C. Fripp of Bristol. Rubble with Bath stone quoins
and dressings; slate roof with stepped end gables and bracketted eaves;
rubble stacks in a plain Gothic style. 2 storeys, but irregular. 4 bays:
the outer ones are slightly advanced and are terminated by gables; the bay to
the left-centre is also advanced but without a gable; large mullion and
transom windows in ovolo moulded mullions and surrounds; 2-light window in
chamfered mullions and with 4-centre heads lights the staircase. Projecting
gabled porch; doorway in chamfered surround with 4-centre head; shield in
apex; single light window under stepped gable above porch.
