Fabric said to be mediaeval. Features, particularly roof structure, appears
C18 or slightly later. Built of limestone rubble with pennant stone dressings,
end gables with copings and saddlestones, modern asbestos-sheet roof. Salient
feature, based on the Tithe barn at Hanham Court and possibly a C19 addition,
is central 2-storey slat roofed porch with stone parapet ramped up to each
corner. On a circular rocle in centre of parapet is a carved stone female
figure said to represent the goddess Ceves and known as "Sally" from which
the barn takes its name. Porch has wide arch and keystone, keyed semi-circular
opening above and flanking quatrefoil lights. Single loop vents in walls.
Rear elevation has similar central arch but no porch, C18 double wooden doors
with original ironwork. Pigeon-loft on south gable. Pantiled loft on south
gable.
