No. 6 & 6A (Barrymore and Amersfoert) formerly listed as Barrymore.

Large house now divided into 2. Late C15 extended C18, C19 and altered
C20. Central part timber framed, part brick remainder part roughcast,
brick strings, hoodmoulds. Part brick gabled parapet. Old tile roof,
part gabled, part hipped, in differing heights with large Cl7 chimneys
with diagonal shafts on square bases and offset heads partly re-built.
H-plan with timber framed rectangular projection on north, probably
originally a byre. 5 framed bays and 2 crosswings of 2 framed bays each.
Part 2 storeys and part 2 storeys with attics. Entrance front: C18 faced
projecting gabled wing on left hand, brick with strings at floor levels,
single attic sash window, 2 bays of sashes on lower floors all with glazing
bars. To left of this a C19 brick and pebble dash extension. In centre
part 2 small upper casements, the ground floor is obscured by a C20 painted
brick lean to roof with porch in centre. Small one bay brick gable on right.
River front: projecting wing to left with irregular windows, some C19 upper
leaded casements. 2 irregular bays to right of wing in main part, tall
gabled bay with hipped old tile roof and C19 sash windows, tripartite sash
in attic over. Further to right a C19 extension in painted brick 2 storeys
and attic of one bay with C19 angular bay the whole height. Interior: much
of timber frame exposed complete with fine jowl posts and braces, remaining
newels of C16 stair in west crosswing. V.C.H. Vol.III. p.192.
