House, former vicarage. Circa 1865 by Sir Gilbert Scott. Witchert,
roughcast and colourwashed on a rubblestone plinth. Cement dressings.
Old tile roofs. Entrance front 3 bays and 2 storeys. At left service
ranges. Entrance front has 4 centred arched doorway in projecting
centre bay with gable. 3-light transom over doorway. Cross
window above. Ovolo moulded window frames and mullions. Outer bays
have 3-light mullioned and transomed windows. 2-light to upper floor.
Gabled upper windows, all in cement architraves. Projecting eaves with
cut modillion brackets. Stacks with diamond flues, 2 at left of house
and a 3 flue one behind right hand bay. Garden front of 2 bays, left
one gables and projecting, similar windows to front. 2 storey service
buildings to left of main front of 2 bays with 2 gables. An interesting
example of Scott working with a local material, see his "Domestic and
Secular Architecture", p.140.
