4/24 Summer house to rear of Old
Wardour House

Summer house, now annexe to house. Late C17. Limestone ashlar,
tiled roof. Two-storey, 4-window; sashes. C20 panelled door in
round-arched surround with keystone and imposts to left of centre,
two 9-pane fixed leaded round-arched windows to right and one to
left of door, all with keystones and imposts to architraves, small
leaded windows between. Plat band above keystones; four 9-pane
sashes in plain architraves with sill band to first floor, moulded
cornice to plain blocking course. Left return has large square
opening, plat band and one 9-pane sash in plain architrave to first
floor, blocking course and gable with coping. Right return has C20
panelled door. Interior not inspected. Attached to right is shell
of 2-storey C17 stables with no roof and unglazed mullioned
windows. One of a series of buildings built against the south wall
of Old Wardour Castle bailey. Possibly the 'Banketting House'
built 1687.
