Public house, probably late C17th with some earlier remains, altered.
Rendered with slate roof. L-plan. 2 storeys. Main front, facing east, of 4
bays. Windows mullioned, of 3 lights with hood. All rebated and chamfered
except for those to the right-hand bay which have cement reveals. The door,
between bays one and 2, has a chamfered surround with battlemented lintel
flanked by pilasters with incised borders. End chimneys. The north wall of
the rear wing has mullioned windows of 8 and 3 lights on the ground floor,
with ones of 5 and one light above. At the far right is a one-light window
with a modern porch to its left. Inside, the partition wall to the south of
the doorway of the main range contains a cruck truss. On the south side 2
cruck feet, a tie beam, widely-spaced studs, and a timber doorhead are
visible. On the north side the upper part of the truss is visible. The
blades terminate below the apex, either sawn off or covered by plaster, and no
longer support any purlins. The angle of the blades suggests that this wall
remains from an earlier building of one storey with loft.
