House. C16, late C17 and renovated. Timber-framed, plaster rendered and red
brick. Tiled roof with ridge stack. C19 grey brick upper courses to c.1700
red brick chimney. External stack at north east end of red brick, with
offsets. c.1700. Two bays and part of a third bay remain from the C16
house. The bay at the south west end was rebuilt probably c.1700. Two
storeys and attic. North side retains C16 timber-framing, now rendered.
Modern frieze of pargetting between the two storeys. Front has late C20 two
and three-light C19 casements and doorway opposite the stack with modern door
and doorcase. South side. Three gable dormers, including one that is old.
South wall is of c.1700 red brick. The wall has recently been rebuilt
reusing the original brick. Three first floor C19 casements. North east end
wall also red brick. Interior: Timber-framing visible. Substantial
scantling with close centres to the studs. Ceiling joists are laid flat and
are stop chamfered. On a moated site.
