House. C16 or earlier. 2 storey, timber framed and plastered. Of complex plan
form with a long main range with gabled peg tile roofs, discontinuous lean-to on
the NW side, a large timber framed, possibly earlier 2 storey rear wing and a
C17 staircase tower. An additional peg tile roofed lean-to on the NE side of
the rear wing. Front elevation has 4 window bays of C19 double hung sashes with
moulded surrounds and 3/3 panes. Modern peg tile roofed gabled porch at NE end
incorporating door, moulded jambs, date panel and guilloche patterned
bargeboards of a porch of 1621, moved from the adjoining bay. Other windows are
a mixture of old C19 and modern casements. NE gable has 'ashlared' plaster and
indications of a raised roof line. A large Tudor stack at the junction Qf main
block and rear wing has a very wide flat arched headed fireplace in the hall
bay. Massive timber frame with emphatic jowls, original ovolo mullioned
windows. (RCHM 4).
