Farm buildings around a fold yard, and gin-gang to north-east. c1832 (date
of pigeoncote (qv)). For the Duke of Northumberland. Rubble with ashlar
dressings, stone slate and artificial stone slate roofs. 2 and 1 storeys.
Quoins. Range facing south-west: on left, single-storey cart-shed and
riding-horse stable range, with 2 segmental-arched ashlar cart openings on
left and shuttered window and board door in ashlar surround to stable on
right; artificial stone slate roof, hipped to left. To right, 2-storey
stable and hayloft range has wide segmental-arched ashlar opening on left,
with C20 plywood door, giving access to fold yard; on right, board stable
door flanked by windows, all in ashlar surrounds; on first floor, 3
shuttered windows and pitching door, all with ashlar surrounds; artificial
stone slate hipped roof. Rear range, north-east side: projecting on right a
6-sided gin-gang, with ashlar quoins at angles, and to 3 easternmost sides
blocked openings with segmental-arched lintels, ashlar buttress on
easternmost corner; 2 sides nearest granary to which it is attached are
open; hipped stone slate roof. Granary attached to gin-gang, of 6 internal
bays, with hipped stone slate roof. Single-storey side return ranges have
segmental-arched brick openings onto fold yard (which is now covered in)
surviving unaltered to north-west range and from them projecting low walls
forming pens, with integral water and feed troughs. Interiors: riding-horse
stable has original wooden fittings; gin-gang has strutted roof trusses;
flagged floor to granary.
