Church. C12 with C15 and C19 additions and alterations. Magnesian
limestone ashlar with Welsh slate roof. West tower, 3-bay nave with north
aisle anad chancel with north chapel. 2-stage bell-tower, the second stage
is C19 and has 2-light bell openings. Corbel table. Hipped roof. Nave:
south doorway: 3 orders with chevron drip mould surmounted by figure of God
the lather, outer order of heads, second order of beakheads and inner arch
witn plain roll-moulding. Hatched shafts to outer orders. Capitals with
interlace carving. 3-bay nave has two 3-light pointed windows under hood-
mould to south. Corbel table. North aisle has single lancet window.
Remains of corbel table. Chancel has round-arched priest's doorway with
single order of colonnettes with water-leaf capitals. Arch moulding with
keeled roll. Window of 2 trefoiled lights under hood-mould. 2-light window
with Perpendicular tracery. Corbel table. North chapel has 2 windows each
of 2 trefoiled lights under hood-moulds. Remaians of corbel table. East
end of chapel: 2-light window with Perpendicular tracery. Interior: nave
has recut 4-cluster-columns and 3-cluster-responds with water-leaf capitals
and double-chamfered arches. Recut double-chamfered chancel arch, with
shafts decorated with interlace bands and small animals, with interlace
capitals. Chancel has sedilia and piscina. North chapel contains C16
alabaster altar tomb bearing effigies of Lord Wharton in full armour, and
his 2 wives. The sides of the tomb show the children.
