Farmhouse. Late C17; remodelled mid C18; raised and re-roofed early C19.
Coursed sandstone, raised in brick; sandstone dressings; slate roof;
rendered brick stack. Central stairhall plan, two rooms deep, incorporating
earlier staircase tower to left. 2-storey, 5-window front. Irregular
quoins. Central part-glazed and panelled door with divided overlight,
approached by flight of stone steps. Sashes with glazing bars throughout.
All openings have splayed architraves. Moulded first floor string course,
stepped over doorway. Left and right return fronts: 2-light mullion and
transom windows to ground and first floors. Staircase tower to left has
blocked Tudor-arched doorway with 2-light mullion window above. Centre
stack to hipped roof. Interior: Re-used C17 closed-string staircase, with
moulded handrail and newel posts. Massive C18 brick fireplace with domed
bread oven, in rear room to left. C17 panelling has been re-used in a first
floor room to right rear.
