Public house. Probably late C17 or early C18; later C18 alteration, and further alterations of 1879 and 1923. Dressed and tooled sandstone with pantile roofs. Low two storey, three window earlier front to left of higher two storey, one window C19 front. Gabled part-glazed porch contains C19 six-panel door in chamfered and quoined doorway. Right of porch large two light mullioned windows with large-pane C20 glazing, that on ground floor beneath relieving arch. Coped gables and end stacks. Left of porch vestiges of blocked firewindow. Remaining ground floor windows altered, with C20 glazing. Six pane sashes with stone sills on first floor. Corbelled eaves. Coped left gable and shaped kneeler inscribed: 19 JKF 23.
End stacks. Rear: gable end of wing to earlier part contains one-light chamfered stone window surround. Left return: small 12-pane sash in chamfered stone surround.
Interior: room to left of entrance contains inglenook fireplace with chamfer-stopped bressummer and timber heck. Enlarged fireplace cupboard to right and blocked saltbox or spice cupboard. Chamfer-stopped beam and quarter-round moulded joists. Chamfered and wave-stopped beam with part of St.Andrew's cross visible over door beside heck possibly re-used part of witch post.
C20 porch not of special interest.
