House and attached cottage. House of 1827, extended later; cottage added
mid C19. For William Moon. Herringbone-tooled sandstone to front, with
diagonally tooled sandstone to rear; pantile roof. House: originally
single-cell, lobby-entry plan, with later extension to right, and service
wing added to rear. Cottage: central-entry plan. House front of 2 storeys,
3 windows, with 1½-storey, 2-window cottage front to right. House: off-
centre door of 8 recessed panels beneath divided overlight. 20-pane sash to
left. Remaining windows are 16-pane sashes. Stone sills to all windows and
vertically tooled lintels to all openings. Raised oval panel to centre of
door lintel, inscribed:
WILLIAM MOON
1827
Coped gables and shaped kneelers; end cornice stacks. Cottage: board door
beneath divided overlight, flanked by 16-pane sashes with stone sills.
Similar windows to gabled half dormers. Heavy lintels to all openings.
Coped gable, shaped kneeler and end stack to right. Interior of house:
ground-floor room to right contains a square stone fireplace with moulded
jambs and frieze, roundels and a flat shelf.
