Mansion. Mid C18 with late C19 alterations and additions. Red brick,
Flemish bond, ashlar dressings, Westmorland slate roof. 2 storeys, 3 bays,
with 2-storey, 2-bay wing to rear. Central glazed double-door with margin
lights flanked by Doric pilasters carrying fluted entablature. Above door a
tall 15-pane sash with margin lights fronted by wrought-iron railing
supported by brackets. Flanking 2-storey canted bays have sash windows of
15 panes to ground floor and 12 panes above, all with flat, gauged brick
arches. Ashlar sill and first-floor bands. Dentilled eaves; parapet.
2-span roof with shallow hipped roofs to canted bays. 6 brick stacks evenly
spaced at gables and behind ridge. To right, single-storey 'gun room' added
c1890. To left a single-storey addition with central French windows,
flanking paired square windows and low, hipped roof.
