Pair of houses. Early C19. Brown brick. Pantile roof. 3 storeys, 2 bays each.
Identical except that No 23 has lost all glazing bars and has one later inserted window
to the 2nd floor. Stone plinth. 2 stone steps to entrance on left which is set in a
semi-circular hooded recess. Stucco doorcase with 2 narrow pilasters with individual
entablatures, plain frieze and cornice. Above the cornice is a semi-circular light
with moulded archivolt. Tripartite sash windows to ground and first floor. Flush
moulded cases with shallow segmental arched heads. Glazing bars to No 21 except 2nd
floor window to right. No 23 the surgery of "James Herriot", the literary vet.
