4/95 Bilham House Farmhouse

GV II

Farmhouse. Dated 1688, early C19 addition. Cement-rendered, red tile roofs.
C17 house originally of 3-room plan, room to right now demolished; 2-bay wing
projects to front left, porch in angle; wing to rear right. 2 storeys. Main
range has door in porch under catslide roof to left with original inner chamfered, quoined doorway, the lintel inscribed 'AH/TH' 1688' and probably C18 door. Old 3-light casement on right with smaller 3-light casement over having horizontal glazing bars. Hipped roof to left, 2 ridge stacks. Wing to left has two 2-pane sashes in square-faced surrounds, front end stack and ridge stack. Right return of wing has casements with glazing bars; left, ground-floor window painted.

Interior of main range: broach-stopped chamfers to spine beams of ground-floor
rooms. Interesting round-arched wood surround to stair door, stone staircase.
