Former United Methodist Free Church, including attached railings at front
II
Former church, now business premises, with attached front railings. Dated
1829. Coursed squared stone. Welsh slate roof. Two storeys. 2-bay
symmetrical gable front. Six-panel double doors to left and right, each with
tall round-arched overlight. In front of each doorway is a balcony gained by
a short central stone stair. The left balcony is altered but the right is
supported on cast-iron columns supporting an iron framwork. Iron railings
with fleur-de-lys finials and iron gates with overthrow. Between the doors a
central tablet reads:
"UNITED METHODIST
FREE CHURCH
ONE IS YOUR MASTER EVEN CHRIST
AND ALL YE ARE BRETHEREN
AD 1829"
Round-arched window in gable apex. Gable copings. The rear elevation is
rendered and has three single windows to each floor, those to first floor
being round-arched (one part-blocked). Roof hipped at this end. The right
return has a small stone porch with a single light to left and right.
