House. Initialled and dated "R EL 1728" (the Lister family).
Rubble brought to course, dressed quoins, stone slate roof. 2
storeys. 2-room front, double depth. Central doorway with lobby
entry has composite jambs and dated basket-arched lintel with
chamfered surround which rises to form an ogee. To either side,
double-chamfered mullion windows originally of 4 lights. 3
altered with lowered or raised lintels. Those to left retain
king mullion. Coped gables with kneelers and central stack. Rear
has altered 4-light window and 3 former 2-light windows all lacking
mullions, one a stair window. Doorway with monolithic jambs has
slate hood similar to rear doorway to Low Laithe Barn, Addingham
Moorside (q.v.) dated 1733.
Interior: Housebody has wide segmental-arched fireplace with cyma-
moulded surround and joggled voussoirs with cyma-moulded, raised
panel on the jamb. Stone dog-leg staircase. Beehive oven, to left
of staircase, possibly still in situ but now concealed.
