Mid/later C18. Substantial stone house with detached wings. 2 storeys. 5
windows, Modillion main cornice with wide pediment to slated roof.
4-columned, Doric entrance portico with pediment. Arched doorway and side lights.
Venetian window above with corniced windows either side. Circular windows
in tympanum. Addition to north connecting to wing. Plain south return with
eaves to roof and iron escape stair. Rear elevation like front but with exposed,
rusticated basement from which a branching stair has been removed. Large
Venetian window to staircase and lunette in tympanum of pediment. Pair of
long detached wings flanking house and enclosing forecourt. 2 low storeys.
Modillion eaves-cornice with open pediments at front and back over large circular
window with door below, both rusticated.

South wing (Nos 1 to 7 (odd) Hope Hall Street) has a number of blocked windows and new openings: rear altered.

North wing (now part of No 37) considerably altered especially at rear where
it is unroofed. 2 pairs of low rusticated gate piers with enrichment. Interior
has good stone staircase separated from hall by Doric colonnade. Decorated
ceiling. South rear room of some interest (Corinthian colonnade etc) but rest
more or less altered.

51 Clare Road (formerly 1/3 Hope Hall Street). South wing has a number of blocked windows and new openings: altered at rear.

Nos 37 to 39 Clare Road, the Albany Club and its gate piers, and Nos 1 to 7 (odd) Hope Hall Street, form a group.
