Cotton mill chimney. c1870-80. Coursed dressed sandstone
blocks. "Candlestick" type: a tapering cylindrical shaft over
37m high with a bull-nosed cornice, set on a cubical pedestal
of rock-faced masonry with a smooth freestone frieze and
roll-moulded band, and an upper stage brought to octagonal
section with broad lambs-tongue stops and finished with
another roll-moulded band. One of the finest surviving mill
chimneys in the area. Forms a group with the associated Engine
House (qv).
