Description

SE 20 NE DENBY DALE BAGDEN LANE
Denby Dale
5/1
Upper Bagden Farmhouse

II

Farmhouse partly used for storage. C17 with C20 alterations. Coursed
rubble. Quoins. Stone slate roof with hollow chamfered gable copings
on moulded kneelers. Two storeys. House and cross-wing with the rear
of the house extended as outshut giving an L-shaped plan. The house
part is largely rebuilt, the front and gable wall having C20 openings.
The back wall of the house has timber framing, within the outshut. At
least one post with bracing and an aisle-tie. Studding with plank
infill. The cross-wing, now used for storage, has similar front and
rear gables. 3-light double chamfered window, to each floor, with hood
mould. Dovecote to front apex. Fire window at side of each gable.
Inside the cross-wing, at upper floor level, a timber post is visible,
presumably relating to the house.
