Granary opposite Newholme
II
Granary. Late C18 or early C19. Timber framed and weatherboarded
on 7 x 3 staddles, thatched roof. Three bays, with central opposed
entrance doors and pitching doors in gables. Interior has jowled
posts with curved braces to ties, raking struts to collars and
clasped purlins. Roof half hipped at ends. Lined with boarding to
bressumer level. An example of a smallholder's granary combining
storage of grain on the ear with that of threshed corn.
