Farmhouse, now club. Late C17 and late C18. Random rubble, part rendered,
pantile roof. Double depth house formed by two parallel ranges, the rear C17,
the front C18. Three bays, two storeys and attics. The main elevation is late
Cl8 but rendered and re-roofed in recent years. Central entrance with modern
door and gabled porch flanked by 2-light modern casements with segmental heads.
Above are three 3-light modern casements in segmental heads. Garret window in
either gable, ridge stack to right gable. Additional bay set back to left with
similar 3-light casement above and gable stack. Rear range is c.1700 in roughly
coursed rubble with old pantile roof (old pantiles also to rear slope of front
range). Ground floor is obscured by late extensions but upper floor retains the
original openings under timber lintels. Garret window in gable. Gable stack to
right. Historical information (Filton Historical Research Group) suggests that
this house was Lower House or Lower House Farm and there are two dates of
changing tenancy 1715 and 1792 which may be relevant to the two buildings
periods. Interior not accessible at time of inspection.
