Former Manor House, now in 2 ownerships. Dated R/M/E/1637 with C18 and C19
alterations and additions. Squared and coursed rubble, stone dressings and
copings, slate roofs. Symmetrical 7 bay block of 2 storeys and attic with three
2 storey ranges extending from it at the rear. Windows are 2-light ovolo
mullions with C19 and C20 casements; the attic windows in gabled dormers with
apex finials have small leaded pane casements. Central 2 storey gabled porch
with round-headed, keyed archway, 2 datestones (one eroded) above window and
sundial on gable apex. Continuous hoodmould to both floors. Stone stacks
throughout. Ranges to the rear have both ovolo and edge moulded mullions.
Early C19 north porch with coat of arms above doorway. Interior. The Manor has
several early C19 fireplaces and its central hall has fine C16 Mannerist
panelling. Built by Richard Mogg. (W.J. Robinson, West Country Manors, 1930).
