House. Late C17, refronted and extended c.1800 with later alterations.
Rubble with brick and stone dressings, rendered sides and rear, double Roman
tiled roofs with gable stacks to south and east, raised coped verges continuing
parapet. Classical style. South front of 2½ storeys, includes gable end of
original house, 1:6 windows, to left, sash at ground and 1st floor in exposed
boxes with segmental heads, blocked cellar window and small 2-light casement at
attic, all other windows sashes with flat splayed brick head and surround,
except ground floor 2nd from right, C20 pivoted sash, C20 door in 2nd bay from
left with ashlar surround and cornice on fluted brackets. West elevation has
3 windows, 16-pane sashes to ground floor, sashes at 1st floor, all with exposed
boxes and segmental heads, blocked door to right, 3 cellar windows with
segmental heads, central one blocked, to left and right with diamond mullions,
elaborate wrought iron catches to right; east elevation has 2 sashes to ground
and 1st floor left, casement with diamond stanchions to ground left and C19 sash
of 4 panes to 1st floor right. Rear has large bow through 2 storeys with
flanking pilasters, cornice and parapet, 3 windows, all large sashes at 1st
floor, 9-pane sashes at lower ground floor, porch to right on slender Doric
columns with cornice and parapet, panelled and glass door. Interior: not
inspected.
