SW 42 SW
8/47 Dorminack
-
GV II
Small house. Circa early C18. Granite rubble with granite moorstone dressings.
Corrugated asbestos roof. Tall granite ashlar stack over the right-hand gable end.
Plan: Originally probably 2 rooms (now 1 room) the kitchen/living room on the right
and parlour on the left. Behind the kitchen is an integral outshut probably
originally for stair and a pantry. Over the front rooms there were originally
chambers mostly in the roof space, but the floor has been removed and it is now
single storey.
Exterior: Low front with evidence for small upper floor windows, now single storey.
Nearly symmetical 2 window front with doorway slightly left of middle and small
window openings at left and right. C20 door and windows. 12-pane 2-light casement
at right-hand end and rear.
Interior: Simple interior has large granite fireplace with domed granite oven behind
its right-hand jamb.
The Falmouth estate at Tregothnan is reputed to possess records of a croft having
been established here in (1704?) according to the tenant, Mr. D. Tangye.
