House and attached outbuildings, now school. c1830 with minor
early C20 alterations, and late C19 and c1970 additions.
Pebbledashed rubble with stone dressings, plinth and first floor
band. Hipped slate roof with wide overhanging eaves and
pebbledashed ridge stacks with stone cornices. Two storeys and
three bays with an irregular plan. Main front has a two storey
bow to west side with a shallow leaded domed roof and a full
height glazing bar sash to ground floor. To east there is a
semi-circular headed doorcase with a Tuscan columned, broken
pedimented porch over and a panelled door below traceried
fanlight. To either side there are narrow inserted glazing bar
sashes. Beyond to east and. slightly recessed there is a late
C19 addition which has glazing bar sashes above and below.
Above to west there are two more sashes, that over the door with
a semi-circular wavy ironwork balcony to front and that to west
bowed. West front also has glazing bar sashes. Interior has an
elegant stick baluster staircase with wreathed handrail, and
original semi-circular headed niches in two ground floor rooms.
Attached to west is a c1970 addition of no special interest and
attached to north are the outbuildings which are of painted red
brick with hipped plain tiled roofs. North range has an
advanced central gabled bay with full height semi- circular
headed blind recess in which is a central segment headed
doorcase flanked by small paned 2-light segment headed windows
with a similar central window above. Similar arrangement of
openings to east side and a segment headed doorcase with double
doors to west plus 2-light small paned window above.
