Circa 1826. Built for J Malam. Classical style. Sandstone, about 20 feet wide
by 25 feet high. Coupled Doric pilasters rest on a projecting base at each
side of centre opening spanned by a semi-circular arch. Continuous entablature
and architrave enriched with guttae, plain cornice, blocking course broken
forward and carried higher in centre. Elevation is repeated on the inside and
the coupled pilasters and entablature are returned round each end. A prominent
feature on the approach from Hull.
