Church. C12 nave, C13 west tower (heightened C16) and north aisle, C13
chancel with north chapel. Ashlar, coursed limestone rubble with freestone
dressings, slate roof. West tower, 3-bay nave with north aisle and south
porch, 2-bay chancel with north chapel. West tower: 3 stages with moulded
string to 1st stage and offset to belfry. 1st stage: lancet to west wall.
2nd stage: blocked slit windows to north, south, and west walls. Double-
chamfered square-headed belfry opening originally with central mullion.
Crenellated parapet with eight crocketed pinnacles. Nave: chamfered plinth,
buttresses with offsets. Two C19 lancets. Round-headed south door of 3
roll-moulded orders (the inner enriched with beak-head) on nook-shafts with
scallop capitals to west, and worn , carved, capitals to east. South porch
has round-headed arch with reset C12 figure of a bishop over. Raised coped
gables with Celtic cross finial. Chancel: chamfered plinth, buttresses with
offsets. Lancet to west, 2-light square-headed window with Decorated
tracery to east. Pointed 3-light east window with reticulated tracery; 3
stepped slit windows above. Round-headed 2-light east window with
Perpendicular tracery to north chapel. Raised coped gable with flory cross
finials. Interior: C13 north nave arcade of cylindrical piers with circular
abaci bearing pointed double-chamfered arches. C13 corbels with masks to
struts of C19 roof. Triple-chamfered chancel arch on polygonal abaci and
responds. North chapel: early C13 arcade of cylindrical pier and square
reveals bearing pointed double-chamfered arches. Similar pointed double-
chamfered arch, on corbels with masks, to north aisle. Disused octagonal
tub font in vestry.
