SW 63 SE WENDRON BODILLY VEOR

4/372 Bodilly (Veor) Farmhouse

GV II


Farmhouse. Probably C18 but possibly older, extended circa early C19. Slurried
rubble walls. Steep grouted scantle slate roof with large rubble stacks over the
original gable ends. Plan: Original house has 2 rooms with through passage between.
Left-hand room, probably the hall/kitchen has stair projection at rear. (The stair
is now surrounded by a C19 lean-to). In the C19 a 1-room plan cottage was added
at the left-hand side, a service wing was built at right angles behind the right-
hand room (parlour) and a lean-to was added behind the remainder of the rear.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Overall 4 window south-east front. 1 window front cottage
on the left with its doorway on the right and nearly symmetrical 3 window front
of original house with its doorway slightly right of middle. Farmhouse front has
wide ground floor window openings and small first floor openings. C20 4-light
casement to ground floor openings and circa early C19 12-pane 2-light horizontal-
sliding sashes to 2 of the first floor openings, right-hand window is probably C20
casement). C20 ledged doors. Cottage has circa early C19 16-pane hornless sash
to ground floor and later 6-pane horned sash above. Interior: C18 doors with
fielded panelling to cupboard in right-hand room; early C19 4-panel door with small
corner to rear doorway at left-hand room, otherwise circa early-mid C19 and
possibly later C19 carpentry and joinery. Roof structure not inspected.
