Description

SHEPRETH MELDRETH ROAD
TL 3947
(North west side)
21/338
Outbuilding and
stables, south-west
of Docwra's Manor
GV II

Outbuilding and stables. C16. Timber framed, part weatherboarded and part
rendered with side to road part underbuilt in gault brick. Tiled. Single
range and five bays. Two storeys. One bay has an original diamond mullion
window in the front wall and another, opposite, in the rear wall. Inside the
framing is exposed. The building was originally floored throughout. The
vacant mortices are visible. The floor that remains is of substantial
scantling. Tne joists are plain and laid flat. They and the arch braced tie
beams are similar to the rear wing of this house, with which it is probably
contemporary. The roof has been repaired but the wind braces to the
principal rafters are visible.
