Farmhouse. Probably incorporates early C16 fabric but present form and accessible
features are of early C17 date. Rendered cob walls. Corrugated iron and asbestos
roof, gabled to right hipped to left. Brick stack at right gable end and axial
rubble stack with brick shaft.
Plan: 2-room and through passage plan, lower end to the right, projecting 2 storey
hall bay and. wing to rear of hall. Hall stack backs onto passage. It is unclear
whether the rear wing is a later addition or integral - the ground rises steeply
beyond the hall and possibly a rear wing was incorporated into the plan in place of
an inner room because of this. Outshut added in front of lower room probably as an
outbuilding.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 1-window front with leanto in front of right-
hand side. 2-storey gabled hall window bay projects to left of centre with C19
casements - 2-light above and 3-light below, some lights are leaded. C19 plank door
at centre with semi-circular oven projection to its left. On inner face of outshut
is re-used circa early C16 shouldered head wooden frame. Wing extends behind left-
hand end.
Interior only partly accessible - hall has open fireplace with chamfered wooden
lintel which has straight-cut stops. Chamfered cross beams in hall and rear wing.
It is probable that more original features are concealed and the roof timbers may
also be of interest.
