23.10.86 II
Sluice. 1805. By John Rennie. Gritstone ashlar. Raked and
battered flanking walls. Facetted cutwaters, one with depth
marks in Roman numerals. Plain band, coped parapet curves
slightly to end piers. Iron sluice gates. Stone steps. Curving
wall to Haven side. The sluice was made with 3 openings of 15
feet each and was part of John Rennie's scheme for draining the
Fen. The waters from the Hobhole drain enter the Haven at the
