12/89 Marine Hotel

Former hotel, now derelict. Late C18, altered C20. Red brick,
slate roofs with brick coped tumbled gables, 2 brick gable
stacks. 3 storey, 4 bay front, the third bay slightly advanced,
with first and second floor bands. Blocked off-centre door has 2
blocked windows to left and one to right. To first floor 4 plain
sashes, and to second floor are 4 blocked windows to eaves.
Other windows have segmental brick heads. To right an added
advanced lower 3 storey, 3 bay block with hipped roof, a central
door flanked by single blocked windows. To first floor 2 windows
flank a disturbed area and to second floor 3 plain sashes. The
Marine Hotel was built specifically for the seaside trade
referred to in item 12/88. It closed 20 years ago. Source:
