Small country house. Late C17, early C18, early C19, mid C19.
Coursed limestone and ironstone rubble, limestone and ironstone
ashlar, stock brick, some red brick. Slate roofs with 3 ridge
stacks, single gable stack and 2 projecting lateral stacks. 2
gabled dormers with glazing bar sashes on east side, single
gabled dormer with sliding sash on south side. L plan. 2 storey
and attic. 2 storey, 4 bay C17 west front including early C19
bay to left. C19 polygonal conservatory to right with pyramidal
roof, ornate corbelled wooden eaves, red and blue stained glass
upper sections and double partially glazed doors. Conservatory
flanked by single C19 glazing bar sashes each with flanking
narrow fixed lights. Double glazed doors to left, with wedge
lintel. 4 C19 glazing bar sashes above with plastered lintels
set in remains of 4 large C17 mullion windows. East side with 2
storeys and attic, 2 bay east front, 4 bay north front with large
curved early C18 single storey block inserted in re-entrant
angle. East front with C19 bay to right with glazing bar sash
with wedge lintel. Glazing bar sash to left with concrete
lintel. Single glazing bar sash with plastered lintel above.
C18 round bay with central doorway with flanking ionic pilasters
with roundel decoration on capitals, plain entablature, pediment,
inner deeply scooped ironstone round headed surround with round
headed, panelled door. Doorway flanked by single round headed
windows with margin lights. Balustrade above with roundel
decorations. North front with 2 mid C19 stock brick bays to
left, ironstone and limestone rubble to right. Doorway to right
with wedge lintel, overlight and double glazed doors. Glazing
bar sash to left with wedge lintel. Narrow plank door to left
with wooden lintel, broader doorway beyond with ashlar lintel,
segmental head and plank door. 2 glazing bar sashes above, that
to left with wooden lintel, that to right with wedge plaster
lintel. South front with 2 storeys and attic, 6 bays including 2
C19 stock brick bays slightly projecting to right, and single
projecting, gabled C17 3 storey bay to left. 2 glazing bar
sashes to right with wooden lintels, 4 light C20 casement with
concrete lintel to left East side of projecting left hand bay
with single plain sash. Projecting bay with blocked 4 light
mullion window with moulded cornice. Above, 2 glazing bar sashes
with wooden lintels to right, 2 glazing bar sashes to left with 2
small C20 casements under single concrete lintel beyond. East
side of projecting left hand bay with glazing bar sash set into
mullion window. Blocked 4 light mullion window with moulded
cornice above, to left. Small sliding sash above set into 2
light mullion window with moulded cornice.
