Farmhouse, extended to form 3 cottages, now one house. Probably early C17,
extended C18 and C19, remodelled in early C19 cottage ornée style; further
extended c.1910 and considerably altered late C20. Roughcast timber frame,
brick and rubblestone and roughly coursed limestone rubble; machine tile
roofs replacing thatch in late C20. Earliest part to left of 3 framed bays
(left bay rebuilt in stone), extended to right with gabled range of c.1910
projecting to front and rear at far end. Lower C19 gabled range at right
angles to rear on left with short range running parallel to main range in
angle to rear on left. One storey and attic. Main range has 5 gabled
eaves dormers of varying size and height to front, second and third from
left with C19 leaded lights, remainder with C20 casements. Three-light
C19 casement to far left on ground floor with late C20 casements to left
of centre and to right; C19 quatrefoil-shaped window with leaded lights to
far right. Entrances to left, left of centre and to right in angle with
c.1910 projection through half-glazed door under lean-to hood, half-glazed
door and C20 boarded door under lean-to porch respectively. Integral stone
end stack to left, widened in C19 red brick. Weatherboarding below eaves
immediately to left of left dormer. Rear elevation and projecting wings
have early C19 Gothic casements and doors with several C20 doors and windows
in imitative style. Interior. Only partial inspection possible at time
of resurvey (July 1986). C17 part has fragmentary square panels visible
to front wall and large infilled inglenook fireplace with bread oven. C17
plank door leads to extension to right. Double-purlin roof with trusses
plastered over at time of resurvey.
