HINSTOCK C.P.,
HIGH HEATH,
Castle folly approx. 150 metres to north of Hinstock Court
II
Castle folly, now ruinous. Circa 1840. Roughly dressed red sandstone.
Miniature castle consisting of keep or tower, roughly circular 'bailey'
walls and outer oval retaining walls. Tower formerly of one storey and
basement. Flat string course to parapet. 2 pointed-arched windows. Low
door to former basement. The owner reports that there is the date 1842
on the building but it was not noted at time of survey (March 1986).
There is a pool between the inner and outer walls. The folly is floorless,
semi-ruinous and very overgrown (at time of survey). Hinstock Court is not
included on this list.
