First World War Memorial. Circa 1920. Limestone ashlar with wrought-iron
gates and railings. 4 gate piers square in section with moulded plinths
and capping; ornamental gates to centre and pointed railings on low
stone walls with pedestrian gates by central piers to left and right.
2 central piers inscribed "1914" and "1919", left with inscription
"THERE IS A/LIFE IN DEATH" and right with inscription "YE HAVE NOT/
DIED IN VAIN", both with a carved sword beneath. The names of the
fallen are recorded on the inner faces of the 2 central piers, while
on the back are the names of those killed in the 1939-45 war.
