6/207 Unidentified chest tomb in
churchyard, about 3 metres South
of porch, Church of St Augustine

GV II*

Chest tomb. Late C17. Ham stone. Flat topped, frieze ornately carved with lions' masks, diamonds and rosettes,
segmental headed bays with decorated spandrels set between caryatids on North and South faces, cartouche below angel's
ead at East end, scull and cross bones West end partially sunk below ground. Inscriptions no longer legible but date
1683/8 is discernable on North face. A very handsome chest tomb.
