G.V. II
Former school and school house, now house. 1840. By William
Burn. Ashlar, slate roof with lead dressings, stone coped gables
with ball finials and kneelers. 2 wall and single ridge ashlar
stacks with pairs of shafts and cornices. E-plan. The garden
front is single storey with attics, of 5 bays, the end bays are
one and a half storeys, advanced and separately gabled, the
central porch is advanced with cornice, moulded parapet with
corner pinnacles and central bellcote having knopped stone roof.
The Tudor arched double doors are flanked by coats of arms. To
either side of the porch are single 2 light casements with
chamfered mullion and hood moulds. The advanced bays both have
canted bay windows with hipped stone roofs and metal casements,
to first floor 2 light chamfered mullioned windows with cornices,
and in the gable a rectangular recess. On the road side short
single storey wings, with Tudor doorway and 2 light windows,
enclose small courtyard.
