St Michael's Hospital

1849 by W J Donthorn. Much altered and extended Gothic Revival central hall with side-wings in H plan.
Red brick with stone dressings, slate roofs. Three storey entrance
block with octagonal corner turrets: castellated parapets and ogee plain-tiled domes.
Large stone mullion-and-transom windows with drip moulds. Octagonal central hall with
two storey side wings. Blank gables over first floor windows in wings. Lantern over
central octagon.
