House. C16, C17 and early C19. Timber framed, plastered, roofed with handmade
red plain tiles. C16 2-bay range of one storey with attics aligned NE-SW, with
internal stack in SW bay, extended to SW by one bay c.1600. C17 crosswing of 2
storeys with attics at NE end, extending to SE, with original internal stack at
NW end and C18 stack in middle. Early C19 range of 2 storeys to SW, parallel
with C16 range, with internal stack at SW end; the whole forms an approximately
square plan facing SE. Small lean-to extensions to left and rear. Ground
floor, 2 late C19 splayed bays of sashes of 2-4-2 lights. First floor, 2 early
C.19 tripartite sashes of 2-6-2 lights, and central sash of 6 lights. Crown
glass. Central late C19 half-glazed door in early C19 moulded architrave with
plain overlight, and canopy over, linking the bays. Hipped roof of shallow
pitch on the front range. The original C16 range has an unglazed window
complete with 6 diamond mullions at the NE end, and a similar window with 3 of 6
mullions at the SW end, both now enclosed by later buildings. Chamfered binding
beam with lamb's tongue stops, chamfered joists of horizontal section with
lamb's tongue stops. The C17 range has chamfered beams with lamb's tongue stops
at both floors, with plain joists of vertical section. Primary straight bracing
in walls. The original stack has a wood-burning hearth, with rounded inside
splays. C17 oak stair from ground to attic, with wide moulded handrail, heavy
pegged newels, small open well; balusters covered by plywood but believed to be
