Farmhouse. Early C17 with later C17 addition to right, C19 additions to left and C20
alterations. Mixed slatestone rubble, slate roofs with bridge ridge and gable
stacks, ridge stack at former gable end, front lateral stack to left of C19, C19
building rendered and lined out and with asbestos slate roof.
Original plan uncertain and interior not accessible fully; appears to be 2-room plan
with porch and stair tower to front; upper room (to right of porch) has fireplace
from ridge stack, which may have backed right on to original passage, lay out now
altered; stair tower to front of this room. Lower end to left extended mid C19 and
rear single storey early C19 wash-house/brewhouse, heated. Mid C19 addition to left
extends as wing to rear forming overall L-plan.
2 storeys, to left of porch a ground floor metal-framed multi-pane casement, wall set
back above, possibly originally single storey, first floor 6-pane sash; porch has
pitched roof and panelled inner door in moulded frame, stair tower with pitched roof
to right, single pane upper light with slate cill and dripmould, splayed wall to
right; later addition to right, single storey with raised corrugated roof, has two 2-
pane lights at ground floor, 2-light 6-pane casement above. Left return has ground
floor plate glass sash, 4-pane sash at ground and first floor left, narrow plate
glass sash ground and first floor right, all with segmental brick heads, not
rendered. Rear has blank gable end of rear wing to right; main range has ground
floor left 3-light granite casement with hollow-moulded mullions, 3-pane lights in
recessed surround, two 2-light casements of 6 panes with timber lintels at first
floor; single-storey wash-house/brewhouse of early C19 has stable door to side, 2-
light 2-pane casement with cambered brick head to each side of rear stack, small
single light to right side; ground floor right similar 3-light granite casement with
iron stanchions, 6-pane sash under eaves with granite cill; 2-storey block in angle
to rear wing has small 4-pane light at ground floor and 6-pane sash under eaves; barn
attached at end left has door and 2-pane light with granite lintel.
Interior stair tower has newel stair, newel a large circular timber, porch integral
with stair tower, room to right has granite fireplace with flat chamfered lintel,
large jamb to right and cloam oven. Rest of building not accessible.
