Farmhouse. Circa early to mid C17, possibly of earlier origin, C18 and C19
alteration including internal refitting. Rubble core, roughcast with whitewash on
the front slate roof, half-hipped to left, gabled to right, very large central
rubble stack.
Plan and development: lobby-entrance facing onto centre stack; this stack with back-
to-back fireplaces heating a kitchen to left and a hall to right. Beyond the right
end of the hall an inner room at the higher end. 2 storey porch over principal door
opening. Further door opening to right directly into inner room, probably a C19
alteration.
Exterior: 2 storeys, 1:1:1:1 windows on the first floor, first and third window sets
with 5-light wooden-mullioned casements with iron moveable lights, first floor
windows with stopped labels. C19 casement to extreme right on the first floor of 2-
lights, below a single-light casement. Door opening to second bay from left with
the 2-storeyed porch, plain outer doorway on ground floor, inner doorway with a
plank door; on the first floor of the porch a C18 3-light casement centre moveable
iron light with small panes and lead canes, outer lights altered with larger panes,
below a stone sundial dated 1708. Further door opening to extreme right of front,
plank door. Rear elevation not inspected.
Interior: with C17 and C18 work surviving. Hall with chamfered and stopped ceiling
beams; panelling at the higher end with attached hall bench. C18 joinery including 2
fireplaces in bolection-moulded surrounds. C17 staircase.
Roof: the roof structure was not inspected.
