Clingre House

II


Dwelling. Early C18, remodelled 1840. Rendered brickwork, concrete tile roof. Main
block with moulded cornice, brought forward pedimented central section, coped gables
with stacks; lower wing, right, with large external eaves stack, and back wing
containing blocked pitching eyes. Projecting gabled stair turret, lare off-centre
window. Two storeys and attic, first floor string course, 3-windowed, C19 3-light
wood mullion and transome, but canted C19 bay ground floor left, central pediment with
oculus in four projecting keystones, modern door in pilaster doorcase with pediment.

Interior: chinoiserie Chippendale stair with broad swept mahogany rail; kitchen wing
with bread oven.
